A Girly Kind Of Day

On the weekend I went to ‘Girls Day Out’, in Hobart. It is a female orientated lifestyle expo presented by Cancer Council Tasmania aimed to create awareness about women's cancers, and raise funds for support and education services, advocacy and research into women's cancers in Tasmania.

I enjoyed the day; it was a good event for a good cause. The expo presented a range of things from fashion shows and cooking demonstrations to discussion forums and live music. The whole set up was great; various exhibitors, beautiful displays and quirky little spots to take a seat and have and bite to eat or to simply soak up the atmosphere.

There were a lot of Tasmanian exhibitors, promoting their business/products, giving out lots of pamphlets, some (not many) sample products, offering lots of competitions to enter and promoting cancer awareness (the importance of looking after yourself and getting yourself checked). There were various interactive exhibits where you could have your nails painted, get your hair or make-up done, have your skin checked by a specialist or have a shoulder/neck massage. Mini market stalls were set up so you could have a browse and/or make a purchase as well as various food and drink stalls so you could try some local produce=yum.

I loved the atmosphere, a great turn out. This support was fantastic as each entry ticket cost $10.00 with funds going to Cancer Council Tasmania. Overall the event was good. You could shop, learn, participate, dance, interact, sample and relax. I hope they turn this into an annual event. We need more things like this in Hobart. I’m sure they could make the expo bigger and better each year and gain lots of support.

Well done to everyone involved in the event; Cancer Council Tasmania, the organisers, sponsors, local businesses, everyone who purchased a ticket and anybody else involved.

On a side note, I especially loved the styling of the event. I believe this was done by Style My Day (weddings and event hire based in Hobart). They did such a beautiful job.
