This is how mine turned out. It’s so easy do to…
You need to find a nice holder- I used an old glass
candle holder that I had lying around. You could use a vase or anything you
have.
You’ll need the following:
1. ½ cup
of white rice
2. ¼ cup
of white vinegar
3. A
few drops of food colouring- any colour
4. Mixing
bowl or container
5. Measuring
jug or cups
6. Sieve
7. Plate
8. Paper
towel
You might need to make more than ½ a cup. Depending on
the size of your holder, you could make 2 or 3 batches.
Step 1: Measure out ¼ cup of white vinegar. The vinegar is used so the rice holds the colour and doesn’t go mouldy
over time.
Step 2: Add a splash of food colouring to the vinegar. Pour into mixing bowl.
Step 3: Measure ½ cup of rice and add it to the coloured
vinegar.
Step 4: Mix rice with the vinegar. Make sure all the
rice is covered with colour and leave for 5 minutes.
Step 5: Strain rice using a sieve.(Couldn't find my sieve so used a flour sifter instead ha)
Step 7: Leave rice to dry. I placed mine under a heat-pump
and it was fully dry in a couple of hours. You could place it in a sunny area. If you don’t like the smell of the vinegar (it doesn’t
worry me) you can wait a day and then rinse the coloured rice with water and
once again leave to dry.
The finished product!

ReplyDeleteThis is such a cute idea! I don't wear a lot of make-up but maybe I should start just so I could have this pretty holder :)
